Martijn jumps in for Michael Sanderling
Only five weeks after his last appearance with Philzuid (formerly philharmonie zuidnederland) at the Musica Sacra Festival Maastricht, Martijn returns to the Dutch orchestra for a mini-tour through The Netherlands with violinist Arabella Steinbacher, including a concert in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
Two days before the start of the rehearsals, Martijn was asked to step in for Michael Sanderling, keeping the program in the first half. After Smetana’s The Moldau, the orchestra is joined by world class violinist Arabella Steinbacher for Bruch’s first violin concerto in g minor. The second half of the concert now features Dvořak’s Symphony No. 7, which Martijn recently conducted as part of the season opening of Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen.
These series mark his seventh production with the orchestra based in Eindhoven and Maastricht. Previous highlights include an open-air opera gala in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, a TV production of Howard Blake’s The Snowman and a live-stream concert featuring HK Gruber’s Frankenstein!!
