March - April 2020

Unfortunately all planned concerts have been canceled because of the corona crisis. This concerns following dates:

  • April 2020: Kammerakademie Halle, SOV Young Youth Orchestra Ghent
  • May 2020: MDR Sinfonieorchester, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen
  • June 2020: philharmonie Zuidnederland

The situation is particularly difficult for the music scene, but we are trying to make the best out of it and look into the future with hope and fresh energy!

I would like to share with you this little musical greeting from the Flanders Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor Kristiina Poska. It was a pleasure to produce this video for my dear colleagues in Ghent.

January 2020 | Concert for passing-by trains

Martijn was asked to lead a special project which is part of the Beethoven 2020 celebrations in Germany. On March 8th 2020, along the train route from Weimar to Jena, the landscape will transform into the "biggest orchestra pit" of the world. Twelve different ensembles will perform "Ode an die Freude" along 2 kilometers of track, for which Martijn will write the arrangement. More info coming soon via this link (in German).

December 2019 | Debut at Concertgebouw Amsterdam

On December 27th, Martijn made his conducting debut in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. He stepped in for conductor Jonathon Heyward led Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen in a program with Schuberts "Unfinished" symphony and Chopins first piano concerto, in which Severin von Eckardstein played the solo part.
