On 27 & 28 November, Martijn conducted his debut performance in the KKL Luzern, stepping in for an indisposed Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider. The program featured Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto with Maria João Pires.
Martijn‘s 2024/25 season kicked off with a concert at the Chopin and his Europe Festival, together with Sinfonia Varsovia and pianists Dang Thai Son, Eric Lu and Sophia Liu. The performance of Karłowicz’s seldomly heard Eternal Songs received standing ovations.
Starting in January 2026, Martijn will assume his position at the Ghent-based orchestra. He has been Associate Conductor since 2022, after serving four years as assistant conductor to Jan Latham-Koenig and Kristiina Poska.
On February 10th, Martijn returned to the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw to lead Sinfonia Varsovia in a program with music by Dutilleux, Martinů and Brahms. This project marked his fourth collaboration with the Polish orchestra.
Only five weeks after his last appearance with Philzuid (formerly philharmonie zuidnederland) at the Musica Sacra Festival Maastricht, Martijn returns to the Dutch orchestra for a mini-tour through The Netherlands with violinist Arabella Steinbacher, including a concert in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
Martijn’s 2023-2024 season set off with debuts at two international festivals. He conducted the MDR-Sinfonieorchester at Kunstfest Weimar and led the Filmaronica Banatul Timisoara at the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest.
